Examine yourself and your reasons for going to college, community college, technical school, or specialty school. Really, why are you going? What are your abilities and strengths? What are your weaknesses? What do you want out of life? Talk with your family, teachers and high-school counselors as you ask these questions.

During their Junior year, every student will meet with their School Counselor for a full period meeting (called the Falcon Future Consult) to discuss ALL possible post-secondary options. Each student receives a folder with valuable resources to help with the planning process. When considering 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, or 2-year technical/trade schools, we recommend you take the following steps:

  1. Identify important factors in choosing a college, university, technical school, or trade school:

    • Location

    • Size

    • Cost

    • Programs of Study

    • Admissions Profile

    • Student Activities

    • Residential Life

    • Support Services

  2. Compile a list of schools

  3. Meet with college representatives who visit CCHS

  4. Arrange for visits and interviews

  5. Meet with your school counselor to discuss plans, ask questions, and work through the application process
